Academics

Our academic program consists of several objectives and or requirements that we ask our members to adhere and abide by in order to remain in good standing with the local Gamma Mu Chapter and Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity.

Nationally, our members attending quarter-based academic institutions are required to maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. in order to obtain membership in Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.  The cumulative national G.P.A. of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity is a 2.8 G.P.A. which is a full .2 higher than all other college fraternities.  Delta Tau Delta is an academic leader in the fraternity world and we strive to make sure our members fulfill their daily commitment to their academics.

Locally, we require our members to maintain a minimum 2.25 quarterly G.P.A. while attending the University of Washington.  This requirement is .25 higher than the University of Washington minimum grade requirement.  As a house, we consistently place at or above the All Men's and All Fraternity Grade Point Averages at the University of Washington.

Our specific Academic Requirements are as follows:

  • Active (initiated) members must maintain a quarterly 2.25 G.P.A. or higher to remain in good standing and live in the Gamma Mu shelter.

  • Any active or associate member who falls below this requirement must achieve a 2.5 G.P.A. or higher the quarter immediately following a sub-2.25 G.P.A. performance in order to continue living in the Gamma Mu Shelter and remain in good standing with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

Initiation Requirements

In order to be initiated into full "active" membership of the Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, our associate members must meet the following initiation requirements:

Our specific Initiation Requirements are as follows:

  • Our members must be full-time students at the University of Washington. Full time students (as defined by the UW) must be attending 12+ credits per quarter to be considered full-time students. Potential members must also be in good standing with the University of Washington.

  • An associate/new member must achieve 2.7-3.1 G.P.A. either Fall or Winter Quarter to be considered for initiation.  Members attending 15+ credits can be initiated w/ a 2.7 G.P.A. with a sliding scale up to a 3.1 G.P.A. for members attending 12-14 credits per quarter.

  • The associate/new members must pass a written pre-initiation exam from Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity prior to the actual initiation rites.  This test will be administered by the

    Chapter Advisor

or other alumni/academic advisor designated by the Fraternity.

  • The sliding initiation scale for Fall and Winter Quarter is as follows: 15+ credits - 2.7 G.P.A., 14 credits - 2.8 G.P.A., 13 credits - 2.95 G.P.A., 12 credits - 3.1 G.P.A.

  • After initiation, members are required to maintain a minimum 2.25 quarterly G.P.A. Continued unsatisfactory scholarship can result in disciplinary action that may lead to eventual expulsion from the chapter.

Study Rooms

Our study room has just been recently renovated. With a new coat of paint, new wood desks and computers, Delts have never been able to study better. We are also working to completely digitize our study files so Delts can have access to previously taken exams from any computer at any time. Older Delts can vouch that the best way to prepare for exams is practice the material over and over. Our test files, therefore, are a fundamental part to our academic success.

Our Study Room Facilities consist of the following
:

  • 3 Windows XP AMD Athlon Workstations

  • T-1 dedicated Study Room Internet connection & wireless

  • 2 networked printers and one networked flatbed scanner

  • large, well-lit, private "study cubicles" throughout the room

  • newly re-carpeted and fully networked to the rest of the shelter

  • a database of test-files from years past ranging from accounting to psychology

Our Study Room PC's are equipped with the following software
:

  • Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Visual Studio (Visual Interdev, Visual Java, Visual FoxPro, Visual C++, Visual Basic), FrontPage 2003, Firefox
